Bio

I worked as a freelance editor for two decades, and then started work as a teacher before making time for my own creative writing. Poetry was love at first sight. My poems have since appeared in a variety of literary journals and public projects. I was longlisted for the 2023 Room Poetry Contest and the 2023 CBC Poetry Prize. I won the 2022 Geist Erasure Poetry Contest and was a finalist for the FBCW 2022 Literary Contest and the 2020 CBC Poetry Prize. My first chapbook, In the Warm Shallows of What Remains (Raven Chapbooks, 2024), was the winner of the 2024 Raven Chapbooks Poetry Contest. I've just completed my MFA at the University of British Columbia and am working on finishing a YA novel in verse. I live in Victoria, B.C., the traditional territory of the Lekwungen peoples, with my family and cats.
